Evening Land

Darker ruby red in color, the nose shows aromas that dance between rose petals and lavender, with some exotic notes of cardamom and tamarind that encompass the heart of red cherry. The palate is very silky in texture, with a tight minerality and more powerful tannins for longevity. The finish is precise, pure and persistent. A wine with good energy, it will continue to bloom as it ages.

Wine Spectator

A delicate, ethereal style, light on its feet, with red berry and Earl Grey tea flavors gliding easily through the long, expressive finish. Gets more interesting with each sip, finishing harmonious and elegant. Drink now through 2015. 96 cases made.

Score: 94. —Harvey Steiman, December 15, 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2009 Pinot Noir Summum Seven Springs Vineyard was raised in 40% new oak but was otherwise treated the same as its siblings except for the choice of vineyard parcels and clones. It offers up greater aromatic complexity, displays a superb combination of elegance and power, and a lengthy, pure finish. It is one of the stars of the vintage.

Score: 93. —Jay Miller, October 2011.
