Wine Advocate

The 2007 Malbec Gran Reserva was sourced from a single 82-year-old estate vineyard that spent 16 months in new French oak. It is a denser, richer, more structured version of the Reserva that will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring and will provide prime drinking from 2015 to 2022.

Score: 93+. —Jay Miller, December 2011.

Wine Enthusiast

There's a ton of oak on this Malbec, but there's also enough body and richness to handle it. The wine smells minty and dark, with shoe polish and chocolate aromas. Tight and acidic on the tongue, with an oak-led set of flavors that includes coconut, vanilla and butter along with blackberry. Prickly and electric due to high acidity, but quite good as a whole.

Score: 89. —Michael Schachner, March 01, 2012.

Wine Spectator

This jammy red features tangy layers of red berry and blackberry coulis, framed tightly by black olive, iron and smoke notes, which linger on the finish. Drink now. 1,333 cases made.

Score: 87. —Nathan Wesley, 2011.
