Graham Beck

This exemplary Chenin starts with aromas of peach, pineapple and vanilla, rolling into juicy flavors of melon, honey and rich fruit. Balanced and with a slightly creamy mouthfeel, the wine is elegant but approachable enough for every day. Pair with salad, seafood.

Wine Advocate

The Beck 2008 Chenin Blanc Gamekeeper’s Reserve is one of those rare South African wines of this variety to somewhat put me in mind of its Loire cousins. Its aromas of apple blossom, honey, ripe melons lead to a lush, smoothly-satisfying palate whose hints of smoke, caramel, and salt add interest on an admirably refreshing finish. Enjoy this over the coming year. A barrel-aged variation on Chenin from Beck tended toward very musky ripeness.

Score: 88. —David Schildknecht, August 2009.

Wine Spectator

Light-weight but persistent, with almond, green fig and melon notes backed by good zip on the finish. Drink now.

Score: 87. —James Molesworth, March 31, 2009.
