Morgan Highland Chardonnay 2017
|Region||California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands|
The grapes were hand picked and sorted in the vineyard. Whole cluster pressing preserved the fruit flavors and natural acidity. We barrel fermented the wine in 29% new French oak, along with a combination of one and two year old and neutral barrels. Partial malolactic fermentation ensured the wine a creamy richness, balanced by bright acidity.
A strongly mineral kick of wet slate meets with apple peels, marmalade, toast and wool on the nose of this bottling. The palate is tense and taut with flavors of lime peel and kiwi, framed by a chalky minerality.
Offers mouthfilling richness, with generous flavors of butterscotch, baked apple and glazed pear, accented by a twist of citrus zest. Spicy and toasty notes fill the finish. Drink now through 2023. 9,337 cases made.
