Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Sourced from the 'filet' sections of two specific blocks of the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane vineyard, this sophisticated cabernet sauvignon is known for its muscular structure and intensity. A deep black garnet hue, the wine boasts aromas of crème de cassis, cocoa powder, damp earth and anise. The weighty palate unveils concentrated layers of red currant, freshly picked blackberries, graphite, and spice box. The finish delivers, ripe, ultra-fine tannins wrapped around the core of dense fruit.
Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane is my favorite again of this grouping and has the potential to be a perfect wine, which is really hitting the bull's-eye in 2014. Plenty of gravelly notes, blueberry, blackberry and mulberry jump from the glass of this inky bluish purple-colored 2014 Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The good news is that there are 1,200 cases of this, compared to only 752 cases in 2013. It should drink well for 15-20 years.
James SucklingExtremely aromatic and beautiful with blueberry and blackerry character that turns to plums and roses. Full body and firm and silky tannins. Linear and intensely citrusy acidity. Long, mineral finish. Wonderful energy to this wine. Drink or hold.
