Carlisle The Derivative 2015
Pale straw-yellow in color. Quinine, grapefruit, quince, and citrus pith all stand out in the engaging aromas. Medium bodied, yellow fruits mingle with a slight herbaceous note reminding me of newly baled hay. Plenty of verve and minerality in the refreshing finish. Fruitier (but not riper) than the ’14. There is precious little Derivative in 2016 so if you are a fan of this wine, this is your opportunity to stock up. Drink from release through 2024.
Wine EnthusiastThis is yet another stellar vintage of this unique blend, a mix of Muscadelle, Sémillon, Colombard and Palomino. Floral as a garden brimming in gardenia, it's dry and gravelly, with distinct flavors of quince and melon. Light on its feet, it's well worth seeking.
