Winemaker Notes :

Sonoma-Loeb has been fortunate to work with the legendary Sangiacomo Vineyard for more than a quarter century. El Novillero is a cool, windswept section of rocky benchland that has long been their favorite site at Sangiacomo for growing Chardonnay. At El Novillero, the low-yielding Robert Young Clone of Chardonnay ripens slowly, yielding dazzling wine with complex layers of tropical fruit and spice.

Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Chardonnay El Novillero Vineyard seems a little shy at this youthful stage, revealing delicate hints of guava, melons and apricots with hints of allspice and aniseed. The medium-bodied palate offers a gorgeous satiny texture with great freshness supporting the generous melon and savory/yeasty flavors, finishing with the spiciness coming through.
