Francois Villard St-Joseph Poivre et Sol 2014
Ruby/purple in color. The nose is nice with boysenberries and some pepper. On the palate, this is soft, deep and reasonably complex. Nice tart black raspberries on the palate. finishes with tart acidity.
VinousBright violet. Smoke-accented dark berries, licorice and black pepper on the pungent nose. Gently sweet blackberry and blueberry flavors show good depth and a floral quality that emerges with aeration. Displays firm bite and spicy lift on the gently tannic finish, which echoes the smoky note.
Wine Spectator This shows a singed anise and balsam wood frame around a core of lightly steeped black cherry and blackberry fruit flavors. There's a light dried anise hint through the finish. Drink now through 2018. 4,333 cases made.
