Walter Hansel North Slope Vineyard Chardonnay 2015
The Chardonnay is whole-cluster pressed into French oak for fermentation. The primary fermentation lasts 2-3 weeks and the maloactic fermentation can last until early spring of the next year. This block is the farthest north section of the Hansel Vineyards with a north face for even ripening.
The North Slope Vineyard is a bold wine with plenty of California richness and intensity. Dried pear, lemon confit, almonds, chamomile, honey and all the classic notes of barrel fermented Russian River Chardonnay are pushed forward.

Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Chardonnay North Slope Vineyard has a very sultry nose of apricots, green mango and grapefruit with touches of croissant, honeysuckle and chalk dust. Medium to full-bodied with a sexy, satiny texture and tons of citrus and stone fruit layers, it has a nice long, savory finish. 840 cases produced.
VinousThe 2015 Chardonnay The North Slope Vineyard is one of the more lifted and aromatically bright wines in this range. Candied lemon peel, tangerine and white flowers give the 2015 an attractive upper register that balances the overt fruit that is typical of these Chardonnays. Drink: 2018-2023.
