Viña Cobos Felino Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
An exquisitely balanced cabernet sauvignon to be highlighted. Its spicy and fruity character outstands. The intense ruby red color anticipates a complex, appealing wine. On the nose, the freshness of the red fruit and the herbal notes like freshly cut grass complements the spicy notes of black pepper, clove, and cinnamon, as well cedar and tobacco. Great freshness on the palate, good acidity, sweet tannins and great intensity for a very well-integrated wine with a persistent finish.
James SucklingChocolate and berry aromas with hints of spices and walnuts. Medium to full body. Very fine tannins and a clean and fresh finish.
Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Felino Cabernet Sauvignon mixes fruit from Luján de Cuyo with some 25% from the Valle de Uco. It fermented in stainless steel tanks with full natural malolactic. Ten percent of the wine matured in new American oak barrels and was bottled one year after the harvest. This is very fruit-driven, fresh and clean, with very little influence from the oak, very drinkable and fresh. There's good purity of fruit, very fine tannins and a soft texture, avoiding any over-ripeness without sacrificing depth. I was impressed. They are picking slightly earlier and using oak more judiciously. 130,800 bottles produced.
Wine SpectatorWell-sculpted, with fresh flavors of dried beef, roasted plum and pomegranate, supported by fresh acidity. Drink now through 2019. 10,900 cases made.
