Groth Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Winemaker Notes :
This Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Cabernet Sauvignons grown in our area of the Oakville AVA. The sweet vanilla character derived from 22 months in the barrels blends well with the black cherry and blackberry flavors and aromas of the wine.
James SucklingSubtle and complex with mint, black currant and licorice aromas. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a fresh finish. Clean and refined. A delicious cabernet to drink now or later.
Wine EnthusiastMellowed with 20% Merlot, this full-bodied, structured wine shows supple tannin and dark cherry, blackberry and tobacco flavors. Oak-derived notes of vanilla, clove and smoke are also present, albeit in measured quantity.
Wine Spectatorightly wound, well-structured and dense without being weighty, this has an appealing mix of austere dark berry, loamy earth, cedar and tobacco leaf flavors. This should benefit from short-term cellaring. Drink now through 2026. 26,000 cases made.
