Arrow and Branch Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Entering spicey with elements of anise and dried lavender, this ample wine is dark in character accentuating its aromas of malt and pen ink. Intense and brooding, the initial impression is earthy and the fruit is of plum with fresh blueberries and candied cherry. In a twist that is more complex than cocoa alone, the wine is warm with notes of cinnamon and cayenne like Mexican chocolate. Rich in body, it reminds me of homemade yellow cake with its custard like flavors. A creamy, textured wine from front to finish, this wine is long and complex. And finishes with a minerally stone note unique to the historical Dr. Crane site.

James SucklingWow. Such character and style to this Dr. Crane with lavender, rosemary, flowers and sage as well as dark blueberries. Yet always reserved and focused. Full-bodied, ultra-refined and super long on the finish. A triumph. Drink or hold.
Wine AdvocateMore blackberry and cassis fruit are present in the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard. The wet gravel minerality component has not yet emerged, but I’m sure it will as it has done so in every effort that comes from this vineyard source. It offers a deep opaque ruby/purple color with a confiture of blue and black fruits (mostly black), licorice, subtle toast and a long, full-bodied, opulent finish. It will age easily for 15+ years.
