Carlisle Papa's Block Syrah 2016
|Region||California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley|
Very dark purple-ruby. Nearly opaque. A heady, intoxicating nose of blackberry, smoked meats, and herbs. Smells deliciously savory. Quite smooth and silky on entry, flavors of blackberry and blueberry are intertwined with lavender, violets, and spice cake. Gentle tannins emerge on the long and persistent finish. Totally compelling and a wine of great beauty and harmony. Already drinking well due to its impeccable balance, enjoy from release through 2028
Made up of 100% Syrah, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Syrah Papa's Block comes bounding out of the glass with gregarious crushed blackcurrants and black plums with touches of dried herbs, black pepper, aniseed and tilled soil plus a waft of underbrush. Full-bodied with a firm backbone of grainy tannins and a lively line supporting the generous fruit, it has a very long, savory finish. 561 cases produced.
Peppery and thick in cured meat, game and smoked oak, this has violet undertones and a powerful grasp of brambly blackberry and blueberry. The tannins are well managed and supportive, showing ability to age with grace. Enjoy best 2025-2028. (Cellar Selection)
