Zakin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Notes from winemaker Philippe Melka :
Opulent, vibrant, onctueux on the palate - this is the definition of pleasure.
Drinking beautifully already with great integration of flavors of rich dark notes, coffee, nutmeg, sage and ripe raspberry - full of minerality and vibrancy so reminiscent of the site. This wine is more delicate and seductive than the previous vintages.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is powerful, dense and explosive. Dark red cherry, rose petal, mint, smoke, licorice, dark spices and menthol all come alive in the glass. Dramatic and ample on the palate, the 2014 exudes personality. This is one of the most impressive debuts I have seen in Napa Valley in some time.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate comes from the Crystal Springs area of Napa, just below Cakebread Cellars. The wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and exhibits beautiful blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, a touch of wood smoke and charcoal, licorice and underbrush. It is round, juicy, ripe, medium to full-bodied, with silky tannin and adequate acidity. Drink it over the next 15-20 years. Drink Date: 2016-2036.
