Alban Vineyards Central Coast Viognier 2016
Forward fruit, dense, peach and apricot with a surprising core of minerals and freshness. This wine should be consumed within 3 years of its vintage for those looking for the primary stone fruit and pear notes which Viognier can convey. The wine will age gracefully for a minimum of 4 years with proper storage, but secondary flavors will steadily overcome the aromatics and fresh fruitiness.

Wine SpectatorDistinctly seamless, this starts out plump, with fleshy notes of apricot and peach and a hint of marmalade for added richness. Spice, honey and floral details add complexity. Harmonious and refreshing on the finish.
VinousBright gold. Heady citrus and orchard fruit and violet aromas are given spicy lift by a gingery element. Sappy and broad on entry, then tighter in the midpalate, offering sappy nectarine, poached pear and honey flavors braced by a suggestion of bitter lemon pith. Shows impressive tension for its heft and finishes impressively long and smooth, displaying resonating floral and pit fruit notes. This Viognier delivers outstanding bang for the buck compared to pretty much any other New World rendition of the variety that I know.
Jeb Dunnuck I always love this wine and the 2016 Viognier Central Coast is another smoking value. Apricot, white flowers, honeysuckle, and hints of salty minerality all emerge from this charming, pure and layered beauty. Due to miserable yields in Viognier, this is the first vintage in a while where they've had to purchase fruit for this cuvee.
