Carlisle Sonoma County Petite Sirah 2016
Largely composed of Rossi Ranch Petite Sirah, farmed by the meticulous, organic guru Phil Coturri, we found that the addition of small amounts of Palisades Petite Sirah and Rosella’s Syrah enhanced the texture, aromatics, and complexity of this wine. Seventeen percent new French oak and, like most of our wines, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Very dark opaque ruby-purple. A berry-licious nose of blackberry and blueberry with a slight suggestion of graham cracker and freshly-tilled loamy earth. On the palate, very concentrated and deeply fruited. Tannins are present but for a Petite Sirah, this is surprisingly well-mannered and drinkable. Enjoy now with a decant or let ‘er ride up to 2032.

Wine AdvocateA blend of 92% Petite Sirah and 8% Syrah, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Petite Sirah has a very compelling perfume of violets and baking spices over a core of kirsch, blackberry pie and wild blueberries with a touch of peppercorn. Full-bodied, concentrated and rich, it has a firm frame of chewy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and earthy. 292 cases produced. Drink Date: 2018-2025.
