Carlisle Rossi Ranch Grenache 2016
Medium ruby-red. An intoxicating, highly perfumed, incense-like nose of strawberry, kirsch, Asian five-spice, and exotic woods (despite no new oak). The wine enters with an incredibly silken texture with flavors of kirsch, peach, and spice. In many ways, very Burgundian. Masculine tannins on the finish serve as the perfect yang to the wine’s yin. Drink from 2019 through 2027.

VinousThe 2016 Grenache Rossi Ranch is another of the many highlights in this range. A host of red berry fruit and floral overtones fill out the wine's frame effortlessly. The purity of the flavors is simply striking. This is an unusually supple, fleshy Grenache with terrific fruit density and impeccable balance. The inclusion of 15% co-fermented Mourvèdre adds layers of depth. I loved it.
Wine AdvocateA blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Mourvèdre, the 2016 Grenache Rossi Ranch is pale to medium ruby-purple in color with beautiful kirsch, red roses, redcurrant jelly and mulberries scents with touches of cinnamon stick and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied with a firm frame of grainy tannins and seamless freshness lifting the fragrant fruit, it finishes long and perfumed. 235 cases produced.
Jeb DunnuckThe 2016 Grenache Rossi Ranch checks in as 85% Grenache and 15% Mourvèdre that was cofermented, with the Grenache destemmed and the Mourvèdre not destemmed. Kirsch, dried berries, dried herbs, and floral, spicy notes all flow to a medium-bodied, elegant, charming Grenache that has present tannin, solid balance, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years.
