Walter Hansel Cahill Lane Chardonnay 2017
|Region||California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley|
Winemaker Notes :
This vineyard block is 100% Wente clone consisting of "chicken and eggs"; that is, large and tiny berries packed together in each cluster. This is usually the last block to be harvested so it derives much of its richness from an extended hang time.
The 2017 Chardonnay Cahill Lane Vineyard is a rich, unctuous wine that shows all of the natural concentration of the year. Apricot, butter, spice, orange peel and touch of reduction give the 2017 Cahill Lane its extroverted personality. This exuberant, inviting Chardonnay will drink well right out of the gate. This has so much character.
The 2017 Chardonnay Cahill Lane, from Wente clone vines, features white peach, Bosc pear, gunflint hints and rocky notes with toasty and citrus character. The palate is light to medium-bodied and lightly creamy in texture with concentrated citrus fruits, juicy freshness and a long, saline finish. This feels a bit closed down at the moment.
