Domaine Saint Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape 2016
91-93 points Vinous
Vivid ruby-red. Expressive red and dark berry scents are complemented by white pepper, garrigue and floral pastille nuances. Sappy and broad on the palate, offering concentrated black raspberry, cherry and spice cake flavors and a touch of lavender. Smooth, harmonious tannins build slowly on a very long, seamless finish that leaves behind floral and juicy dark berry notes.

Wine AdvocateLoaded with scents of roses and exotic spices, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape is a super entry-level effort. It's 85% Grenache aged in concrete, with the balance Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Syrah that's aged in demi-muids. Full-bodied, velvety and long, it delivers opulent black raspberry fruit framed by silky tannins.
Wine SpectatorIntense raspberry and blackberry puree flavors stream through, with dark tea and melted licorice notes. A good graphite spine holds the finish. A fruit-driven style that will have a lot of fans. Best from 2019 through 2031.
Jeb DunnuckThe 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a good introduction into the wines of this estate. Darker fruits, scorched earth, chocolate, and obvious minerality all emerge from this rich, structured, tannic 2016 that's going to benefit from short-term cellaring and keep for 10-15 years.
