Olivier Hillaire Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2016
Winemaker Notes :
Olivier has 30+ years experience of winemaking with Chateauneuf-du-Pape. With his experience he has learned that keeping his yields very low helps produce wines with great concentration and soft, silky tannins. This great wine, like Olivier, can be enjoyed in its youth but will also age very well!

Wine AdvocateThe young estate has turned out some crazy good 2016s, including the "basic" 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape, a blend of 90% Grenache and the rest Mourvèdre and Syrah, all from the lieu-dit of Grand Pierre. Aged in concrete and neutral barrels, it shows terrific balance, matching black cherries and raspberries with hints of garrigue, and ample weight and richness on the palate with fine, silky tannins. Concentrated, flavorful and long, this should be available for around $50, making it a relative bargain.
Wine SpectatorRipe and lush in feel, with blueberry reduction, açai berry and plum sauce notes cruising through, enlivened by bright licorice and fruitcake details. A light brambly spine adds contrast on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2030. 950 cases made.
