TOR Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Our first Oakville designate Cabernet is an auspicious debut, classic Oakville East with its pure cassis, cherries, raspberries, licorice, dark chocolate, espresso, violets, dried Mediterranean herbs, and warm red rock minerality. Sumptuous yet fresh, with a fleshy, juicy mid palate and ripe, chewy tannins. Just a lovely Cabernet to drink, now and for the next 15-20 years.
This is the first time TOR has made a barrel selection from their Oakville vineyards, predominantly Tierra Roja in Oakville East. It is composed of barrels selected to reveal the "red-fruited, softer, juicier side of the Tierra Roja vineyard". Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon comes sashaying out of the glass with open-knit notes of warm red and black plums, kirsch and cassis with wafts of bay leaves, tar, underbrush and tilled soil. Medium-bodied, the palate has bold freshness and a firm frame of chewy tannins with a core of evocative, crunchy red and black fruits, finishing long and earthy.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is soft, supple and inviting. Bright red cherry, wild flowers, mint and spice give the 2017 striking brightness and energy to play off a core of rich Oakville fruit. This is such a pretty and enticing Cabernet.
