Winemaker Notes :
This wine incorporates choice fruit from vineyards throughout Napa Valley, from our organic Estate Vineyards to small rugged hillside sites of our partner growers. By blending these various lots, we create a rich panorama on the palate - a landscape of complexity and character that clearly depicts Napa Valley.
This wine is deep garnet in color, exhibiting aromatic layered notes of dried fig, blackcurrant, black pepper, wet gravel, and dried basil. Mouth coating flavors of blackberry preserves, tobacco, anise, cocoa, and nutmeg develop on the palate. With a full spectrum of tannins, the wine is powerful, chewy, and round in texture integrating into a long smooth finish.
Blend: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot
Made from 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a deep purple/ruby color to go with terrific notes of blackcurrants, cedar, scorched earth and hints of gravelly minerality. It's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and structured you get one serious, age-worthy Napa Cabernet. One of the eye-opening tastings while working on this report was the lineup from Kathryn Hall’s estate located in St. Helena. There’s a wealth of wines here, yet they all have deep, concentrated, pure profiles as well as singular characters. You could pretty much randomly select from this lineup and be guaranteed to have a brilliant wine. Hats off to winemaker Steve Leveque. All the 2016s, and the majority of the 2015s, were tasted as barrel samples.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon offers an earthy/savory nose with notes of fertile loam, tree bark and smoked meat over a cassis and black cherry core with touches of roses and menthol. The full-bodied palate delivers great expression and plenty of character, supported by chewy tannins and finishing on a savory note.
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a delicious, appellation-level wine. Bright red cherry, plum, pomegranate, mint and spice are nicely pushed forward in this soft, alluring Cabernet Sauvignon. Silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. The Napa Valley bottling will give readers a good idea of what the Hall house style is all about.
Brimming with rich dark berry, oak, gravel and tobacco leaf flavors, this offers a mouthful of fruit and wood that is fun to drink and chew on now. Best from 2021 through 2028.
