Kongsgaard Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 Kongsgaard Napa Valleyis a regal wine of grand proportions. The aromatic layers of graphite, cedar, and dark chocolate anticipate the great concentration of mineral and fruit flavors. The long, luxurious finish is the result of our meticulous tannin extraction during fermentation and maceration—the crucial period of the vinification when the wine’s magnificent architecture is formed. The dense and silky structure will propel this powerful wine through its long life. These vines occupy the warm, west-facing slope of our vineyard on the eastern rim of Napa Valley.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark, sumptuous, flamboyantly ripe wine. This is especially opulent, even by Kongsgaard standards. Chocolate, plum, cloves, new leather, licorice and spice build in a pliant, sumptuous Cabernet that will drink well right out of the gate. A year ago, the 2017 was massively tannic; today, it is much more suave and sensual, albeit with huge depth to back that up.
A barrel sample, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep garnet-purple color and opens with red and black currants, black cherries and black raspberries with hints of roses and lilacs plus notes of cinnamon stick and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins, it has a good intensity and red and black fruit characters and a savory finish.
