J. Lohr Arroyo Vista Chardonnay 2017
|Region||California, Central Coast, Arroyo Seco|
Light straw in color, this 2017 Arroyo Vista Chardonnay exhibits intriguing aromas of Meyer lemon cream, yellow flowers, baked pear, crème brûlée and toasted hazelnuts. The rich palate texture is derived from the use of classic Burgundian techniques, such as primary and malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels and weekly stirring of the lees during aging. The texture is balanced by fresh flavors of apple, pear, and citrus, with a long, sweet oak finish. Pair with triple crème brie cheese, herb roasted chicken, seafood risotto, or hazelnut-crusted halibut.
Limpid gold. Fresh honeydew, peach and melon aromas are sharpened by a suggestion of orange zest. Round and seamless in texture, offering juicy melon and pit fruit flavors that become more energetic with aeration. Spreads out steadily on the back half and finishes impressively long and silky, with a sneaky floral note and a spicy touch of candied ginger.
Plump aromas of pineapple jam, plumeria and toast show on the ripe nose of this bottling. The palate, crisp at first, is broadened out by a pineapple cream flavor. A chalky grip leads to a toasty finish.
