The Brunello is fermented in old concrete tanks and aged in large, used Slavonian and French oak botti (vats) for 30 months before bottling. There’s then a minimum period of bottle aging, per Montalcino DOCG law, before the wine is released for sale. The result is a wine of firm structure and an aromatic profile that takes you right to the thickly wooded hillsides of Montalcino. This ’13 has an extra gear in the form of deeper fruit concentration, which adds a layer of flesh onto a noble bone structure. Classic Montalcino Sangiovese!
Fragrant and impeccably balanced, this elegant, haunting red evokes cherry, strawberry, rose, iron and white pepper aromas and flavors. A solid spine of tannins and vibrant acidity keeps this well-defined, allowing for a fine evolution over the next two decades. Drink now through 2042. 600 cases made, 125 cases imported.
Wild berry, tobacco, smoke, and blue-flower aromas merge together on this radiant red. The vibrant savory palate presents succulent wild cherry, star anise, clove and a hint of saline while bright acidity and taut refined tannins provide the elegant framework. Give it several more years to fully develop. Drink 2013–2033.
