Tenuta Perano 2015 is a brilliant purple wine with a floral nose dominated by violet and rosehip aromas. Blackcurrant fruity notes lead into marked spiced highlights of black pepper and nutmeg followed by underbrush and humus. The wine is fresh, complex and rich to the palate. The tannin structure is rich and dense as appropriate for the most authentic Sangiovese. The finish is persistent, harmonious and bequeaths pleasant memories of noble tobacco.
Really floral and attractive from the outset, displaying aromas of red plums, blackcurrants, black cherries, poppies, cedar, Chinese spices, paprika and crushed stones. The palate is very linear and focused with tight tannins and refreshing acidity, carrying this through to a chewy, refined finish. Drink in 2021.
Cherry, raspberry, leather and earth flavors pick up wild herb accents as this develops from beginning to end. Closed today, but all the components are in the right place. Best from 2023 through 2038. 250 cases imported.
The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Tenuta Perano is dense and powerful in its first impression. Super-ripe red/purplish berry fruit, spice, sweet tobacco, mint, leather and pine add complexity to this ample, sweeping Riserva. Powerful and yet nicely layered, with notable complexity, the 2015 has a lot to offer. I would give it a few more years in bottle to develop greater aromatic nuance and overall complexity.
The 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is 95% Sangiovese with 5% Merlot aged in large oak casks for 24 months. Some 40,000 bottles were produced. The estate's base Chianti Classico is redolent of bright fruit and explosive cherry. However, this Riserva offers more definition, intensity and complexity. Beyond that bright primary fruit, the wine shows etched mineral notes that are focused and pristine in character. You also get a solid sense of this mid-weight wine's structure and the firm nature of the tannins.
