Colene Clemens Chehalem Mountains Margo Pinot Noir 2016
|Region||United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley|
Margo, named after Colene’s great granddaughter, is comprised of selected vineyard blocks and barrels from our Estate. Lifted and high toned with great vitality and focus, fresh red and dark red fruit mingle on the nose. Supple, refined, and structured, dark cherry and savory notes are the highlight of this transparent, concentrated Pinot noir. Consume this lovely wine now or over the next six to eight years.
Expressive violet, raspberry and crushed stone accents open with a plush and rich mouthfeel, then slowly build to firm tannins on the finish. Best from 2021 through 2025. 958 cases made.
Brilliant magenta. Expansive red/blue fruit scents are complemented by suggestions of succulent flowers, cola and a hint of smoky minerality that builds with air. Juicy, appealingly sweet and lively on the palate, offering boysenberry, black raspberry and vanilla flavors that are supported by a spine of juicy acidity. The floral note comes back strong with air and carries through an impressively long finish that features well-integrated tannins and lingering spiciness.
The nose of the 2016 Pinot Noir Margo is slow to unfurl, with time revealing black cherries and blackberries, orange peel, tea leaves and fragrant earth with hints of charcuterie, pepper and roses. Medium-bodied, it's silky and fresh in the mouth with a long, nuanced finish. 948 cases produced.
