Giovanni Corino Barolo Giachini 2013
Ruby red with reflections. Deep and intense nose with aromas of blackberries and cherries and a hint of vanilla, like a fruit tart. Structure dominated by firm but rounded tannins, fresh and with a concentrated finish.
Very intense and focused aromas of crushed ripe strawberries and walnuts. Hints of sweet tobacco. Full body, round and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Very structured. Drink or hold. Better in 2021.
Corino's 2013 Barolo Giachini is rich, expansive and super-expressive. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, mint, rose petal, spice and violet flesh out. Succulent and polished to the core, the 2013 is incredibly inviting, even at this early stage. The tannins are especially soft, which only adds to the wine's considerable appeal. In 2013 the Giachini offers its typical sensual fruit with an extra kick of brightness from the late-ripening season. Another few years in bottle will only help the wine come together even more.
