Tasting Notes:
Smoke and leather rule this stolid character that hearkens back to its cousins in the Rhône's Saint Joseph region. Jerky, dried herbs, and black pepper finish with a texture like velvet.

The 2017 Syrah Garys’ Vineyard has a more classic bouquet of cured meats, spice, dried earth, currants, iron. It’s another rich, medium to full-bodied Syrah with wonderful balance, building tannins, and a great finish. It too opens up nicely with time in the glass and will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age.

The 2017 Syrah Garys' Vineyard, containing a 1% splash of Viognier and made with 30% whole cluster, has a medium to deep ruby-purple color and a layered nose of crème de cassis, olive, game meats, red cherry liqueur, roast coffee, dark chocolate and clove aromas and a classy framing of new oak. The full-bodied palate has explosive flavor layers and a firmer, albeit finely grained frame, with just enough freshness to lift the very long, dense finish. This will benefit from another 2-3 years in bottle. 85 cases were made.

Inky ruby. Fresh, spice-accented black and blue fruit preserve, potpourri and incense qualities on the highly perfumed nose, along with hints of woodsmoke, olive and vanilla. Silky, seamless and penetrating on the palate, offering deeply concentrated blackberry, boysenberry, candied violet and spicecake flavors that become livelier with aeration. Rich yet also lithe in style, finishing smooth and alluringly sweet, with slow-mounting tannins, lingering florality and wonderful persistence.
