Juffer Brauneberg, a Grand Cru Site, comprised of blue & grey Devonian slate with iron inclusions, and nearly due south exposition. There are still some un-grafted vines with 70+ years of age. This vineyard is extremely steep (80%). Lieser’s holding are from the best parcels in the middle section or “fiilet piece” of the vineyard.
Aromas of peach and slate draw you in, where the juicy texture and brilliant flavors of apricot and peach drizzled with lime grab your attention. This is harmonious, complex and beautifully balanced between its richness, vibrant structure and slate component. Drink now through 2036. 75 cases imported.
The 2019 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett is a lush and piquant Kabi with 8.5% alcohol and a mouthful of Riesling fruit. The acidity is really spicy-mineral and piquant here and lifts the delicate sweetness. However, I recommend cellaring this wine for 7 to 10 years since it is too sparkling and fruity at this early stage, only a few days after the bottling. Tasted from AP 1020 in May 2020.
