Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Brut Nature Cuvée Oenophile No Dosé Champagne 2012
|Region||France, Champagne, Côte des Blancs|
|Brand||Pierre Gimonnet & Fils|
Oenophile 2012 is based on the same blend as Fleuron 2012, with no dosage (no sugar addition). This nature champagne characterized by its perfect maturity is aimed to lively champagne lovers, and Great Chardonnays amateurs.
The 2012 Brut Nature Cuvée Oenophile is gorgeous. Rich, layered and expressive, the 2012 has so much to offer. Unlike many non-dosé Champagnes, the 2012 Oenophile has terrific depth and no sense of austerity or edginess. All the elements meld together so well. Pastry, orchard fruit, spice and flowers are some of the many notes that build as this racy, open-knit Champagne shows off its curves. The 2012 is a real standout. Disgorged: October 8, 2019.
The 2012 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru Oenophile Non Dosé is showing very well, offering up a pure bouquet of citrus oil, wet stones and subtle hints of pan d'épices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and chalky, with an incisive spine of acidity that's nicely integrated, good depth and concentration at the core and a long, mineral finish. Disgorged in April 2018 without dosage, it's a steely Blanc de Blancs will appeal to more than just the purists.
