Pont Neuf La Fontaine Pinot Noir 2021

Winery Notes:  

La Fontaine is the last of our 2021 Pinot Noirs to be released. The wine’s beguiling, exotic fragrance, complete range of subtle, deeply-flavored fruits and fine structure takes time to evolve in the bottle. It delivers a compelling balance of spice, forest floor, and berry fruits. Cassis, plum and the haunting and elusive “Griotte” fruits making it hard to resist. The young wine offers a huge wave of savory flavors and aromas reminiscent of the best of Burgundy’s Cote de Nuits.

As our life began in Burgundy we can remember Clive Coates raising the question as to whether red Burgundy should under any circumstances be decanted. Burgundy’s doyenne Rebecca Wasserman responded that most growers prefer the “first puff ” or rush of aromas from Pinot Noir. By allowing the wine to unfold slowly, the patient are rewarded with a different set of aromas and flavors in each sip.
