Andre Robert d'Auteur Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne 2012
|Region||France, Champagne, Côte des Blancs|
Domaine André Robert crafts “grower” Champagne, a récoltant-manipulant house that grows its own grapes and makes its own wine all on site. This qualitative difference is crucial for those seeking the ultimate in Champagne flavor and character. The estate’s top selection, it’s “author’s collection” is this profoundly intense and savory Champagne, fermented in French barrique and aged for seven years in bottle. An extraordinarily vinous wine, and a peerless snapshot of the savory depth of the best of Mesnil.
To the eye, the wine is deep gold. On the nose, buttery notes. In the mouth, all the power and the vinosity of the wine are served by a long fresh final finish.
Disgorged in September 2020 with three grams per liter dosage, the 2012 Brut Collection d'Auteur is deep and vinous, unwinding in the glass with notes of pear, white flowers and freshly braked bread mingled with subtle hints of citrus zest and bee pollen. Full-bodied, elegantly muscular and seamless, with a deep and concentrated core, bright acids and a pretty pinpoint mousse, it's a seamless, understated blanc de blanc derived from holdings in prime lieux-dits Les Vaucherots, Les Coullemets du Midi, Les Finciarts and Les Chétillons.
