Winery Notes:
This riserva has a luminous ruby red color. Appealing aromas of dark cherries, plums, sweet spice, violets, vanilla and hints of dark chocolate and menthol emerge on the nose. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied but smooth with an almost creamy mouthfeel. Tannins are well integrated with the alcohol, and lead to a subtly sweet, silky finish. Pair this wine with Korean short ribs, ragù sauces, gnocchi with roasted rabbit, and beef negimaki.

This shows notes of black cherries, blackcurrants, spices, dried tobacco, walnut and flinty soil. Full and meaty with a broad-shouldered, chewy tannin structure, cocoa-dusted fruit character and a long finish that offers notes of nut shell and dry earth. From organically grown grapes.

Fragrant blue flower, new leather, underbrush and camphor aromas come to the forefront. Smooth and delicious, the full-bodied palate features dried cherry, strawberry compote, licorice and tobacco alongside taut, polished tannins. Drink 2023-2028.

Rich, this lithe and vibrant red has settled in nicely, exhibiting cherry, blackberry, iron, sanguine and woodsy aromas and flavors. Beautifully balanced, lingering with fruit, mineral, savory and spicy notes. Drink now through 2035. 5,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.

Like some of the other releases in the Castello di Bossi portfolio, this wine is characterized by a metallic note with iron ore and rust. The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardo (a certified organic wine) shows that same trait with wet clay or terracotta, dark fruit, black olive and black rose. The fruit is lost among those mineral-rich or metallic tones, giving the wine a shallow mouthfeel.
