Winery Notes:
The 2022 Estate Syrah reveals a beguiling personality that is both spirited and a little mischievous. Vibrant blueberry and cherry notes leap from the glass, while earthier tones of mocha, sarsaparilla and juniper berry bring depth and dimension to the aromatic profile. Fine-grained, lightly chalky tannin on entry perfectly frames notes of pencil shavings and graphite, wild bramble, and Earl Grey tea. Substantial and well-integrated tannin persists on the palate through an impressive finish marked by elderberry, nutmeg, and rose hip.

Classic Paso Syrah notes of ripe blackberries, asphalt, graphite, and cured meats define the aromatics of the 2022 Syrah. Rich and full-bodied, this monster of a Syrah has a concentrated, ripe mouthfeel, structured tannins, and a blockbuster finish. Made from 100% Syrah and aged 18 months in 100% new French oak, it reminds me slightly of a Hermitage from the Méal lieu-dit. Drink this upfront, sexy, opulent Syrah over the coming decade. Drink 2025-2035.

Distintly savory, the 2021 Syrah smolders up with an earthy bouque t as kalamata olive and sage come together with mocha and black currants. Silken and elegant in feel, this flows across the palate like molten chocolate. Grippy minerals and fine-grained tannins slowly saturate beneath an air of violet inner florals. There's an unbelievable amount of pent-up tension and power here; the 2021 finishes structured and long with a bitter tinge of cocoa that resonates.
