Robert Biale Black Chicken Zinfandel 2016
The Oak Knoll winegrowing region is prevalent in this wine with its dark color, ripe aromatics and juicy acidity. The nose is full of vibrant black cherries, dried fig, pomegranate, wild black berry, fresh dark flowers, subtle dried herb, toasty brown spices and fruit cake. The entry is soft and weighty and gives way to supple, round tannins.
Spreitzer Hallgartener Hendelberg Trocken 2014Tasting Notes: The vineyard is in the hills in Hallgarten; it has hilly and flat sections, and the slopes sit on Taunus slate, not unlike the great Jungfer vineyard, but higher up and cooler. This wine was done in three new Stücks of Taunus oak, and it may be the best “oaky” Riesling I’ve ever tasted outside of some of the Von Winnings. There’s a curious sense of sweetness though the wine is quite dry. It’s fantastically mineral and flowery; lime blossom and balsam, smoke and quince. Don’t miss this; it’s another crazy dialect of Riesling, and it’s silly-delicious.
Donnhoff Estate Riesling Trocken 2017Winemaker Notes: Characterful Riesling from the steeply sloping vineyards of the middle Nahe region. The vines grow in stony, weathered volcanic soils of porphyry and melaphyr in particular, with certain amounts of slate and quartzite. A dry Riesling wine, very typical of our wine estate. Wonderfully fresh and well defined, elegant with a tingling minerality. A delicious wine for every day with moderate alcohol and very soothing acidity.
Aloft Dark Matter Limitless 14 cab 750 2014
Antinori Tignanello 2015Winery Notes: The 2015 Tignanello is a very intense ruby red in color. On the nose, the notes of ripe red fruit, together with cassis and blackberries, are in perfect balance with the hints of chocolate and liquorice. The palate is rich, ample, and vibrant and is endowed with lively and silky tannins which give a great complexity and an important length to the finish and aftertaste.
Tablas Creek Patelin de Tablas Rosé 2017Winery Note: The 2017 Patelin de Tablas Rosé is a vibrant light peach color. On the nose are spicy aromatics of nectarine, grapefruit pith, yellow raspberry, and crushed rock. The mouth is bright with flavors of raspberry and watermelon, with mouthwatering acidity giving focus to a long finish with flavors of lemon drop, sea spray, and a little rose petal florality. Drink now and over the next year.
