Scents of blood orange hint at the acidity that drives this wine; it moderates the proportions of the broad, rich flavor and finishes clean. The scent of pure, fresh honey lasts. For the cellar.

Wine SpectatorIntense aromas of honey, dried pineapple and botrytis spice. Full-bodied, very sweet and very powerful, with loads of dried fruit and sweetness on the finish. Lots of clove and orange peel. Same quality as the 2001. Best after 2013.

Wine Enthusiast85-87 Barrel sample. A powerfully dry wine, lacking charm but certainly compensating by a firm, hammer-like intensity. This could develop well, but it isn't very attractive at this stage.
