VML Limited Release Pinot Noir 2017
Schramsberg Cremant Demi-Sec 2014Winemaker Notes : Our 2014 Crémant has developed aromas of lemon shortbread, lime peel and glazed apricot; complemented by hints of toasted brioche and butterscotch. The flavors are bright and refreshing on entry with nuances of white peach and pineapple balanced by cardamom spice. The palate is rich on entry with a long, lingering finish. The sweetness in Crémant is subtle, providing a fine balance with desserts, such as fruit tarts, poached fruits, light cakes, custards, exotic sorbets, gingerbread and crème brûlée. It also complements a wide range of spicy Asian foods, blue cheeses, and matches especially well with foie gras.
Tolaini Valdisanti 2015Winery Notes: Youthful, rich dark fruit, berry and cassis aromas meld with notable French oak spice. On the palate, Valdisanti is full-bodied with deep but reserved fruit flavors framed by rich oak. The excellent balance of fruit intensity with fine tannins indicates a cellar worthy wine. Note: Some sediment may occur in the bottom of the bottle as the wine is not filtered.
Shannon Ridge High Elevation Petite Sirah 2017Winery Notes: Picked at the peak of ripeness, this rustic varietal shows off dark fruits of blackberry, blueberry and hints of cranberry, black pepper, cedar, warm spices and toasty vanilla notes come out after aging this wine in a combination of French and American oak for 9 months.
Alban Vineyards Patrina Syrah 2016Winery Note: While the grapes for Patrina are raised with the same detail and attentiveness as the rest of our vineyards, and then fermented open top with indigenous yeast, gentle pump overs and a few punch downs once soft, it is bottled unfined and unfiltered after ‘just’ 22 months in barrel to preserve its youthful exuberance. All the density and concentration folks have come to expect from our reds with black and blue fruits, mineral notes, and flowers.
Lucienne Lone Oak Pinot Noir 2017Winery Notes: Our 146-acre certified sustainable Lone Oak Vineyard sits at the northern end of the Santa Lucia Highlands where it is cooled by ocean breezes from the Monterey Bay. Morning fog lingers here while the wind picks up in the afternoon, leading to a long, cool growing season that allows grapes to slowly develop flavor and concentration. With gentle, east-facing slopes and elevations between 180 and 500 feet, the vineyard’s ancient alluvial soils assure excellent drainage. Just 20 acres of Lone Oak are devoted to Pinot Noir, creating an intensely aromatic wine with notes of citrus, cherry pie, toast, spice and a hint of earthiness. The complexity continues on the palate, with sleek cherry flavors, youthful balance, a round, soft texture and a long, structured finish.
Bevan Ontogeny 2017Winemaker Notes: In 2017, we used more Tench and Sugarloaf than ever before to make sure that Ontogeny had the richness and depth that it has become known for. Sugarloaf Mountain Cabernet Franc was perfect for this, lending a beautiful blueberry and tobacco base. From there, we used Tench Cabernet Sauvignon for power, a kiss of Wildfoote for exuberance and a barrel of Sentinel Ridge for a little mountain tannin.
Walter Hansel North Slope Pinot Noir 2017Tasting Notes: Aromas of raspberries and strawberries with hints of violets and spice. Lighter in style, the acidity frames it nicely. Well integrated tannins lead to a long, silky smooth finish.
Krug Grande Cuvee 168th Ème Édition BrutProducer Notes: Over 20 years are needed to craft each bottle of Krug Grande Cuvee, created beyond the very notion of vintage to offer the most generous Champagne in the world with exceptional finesse. As you taste it, notes of hazelnut, toasted bread, nougat, barley sugar, and jellied fruits may take you by surprise. You may even taste hints of apples still on the tree, flowers in bloom, ripe and dried fruit, almonds, marzipan, gingerbread, sweet spices and even brioche and honey. You may also notice its exceptional freshness in the mouth, with rich and tangy flavors of lemon and grapefruit enhanced by the subtlety of its fine and elegant bubbles. Krug Grande Cuvee can age beautifully. Krug Grande Cuvees fullness is such that everyone can find something in it to stir their emotions. Its generosity also means that it lends itself to to a plethora of culinary combinations, from the simplest to the most sophisticated, from an extra mature Parmesan to a dish of turbot a la truffe.
Frank Family Carneros Pinot Noir 2018Winemaker Notes: Bright ruby in color, the 2018 Carneros Pinot Noir is lively and fresh with a beautiful exploration of rose petal, pomegranate, and cranberry. It shows a wealth of flavor and texture with a full-bodied figure of ripeness and structured acidity.
Tenuta Rapitala Alto Nero d'Avola 2016Winery Notes: The Rapitalà Alto is a terroir-driven Nero d’Avola with a concentrated typicity seen its deep, ruby color, a generous bouquet of ripe red fruits and vanilla, and a full, round, delicious flavor with a spicy, red-fruit finish. Serve with lasagne, roasts and red meats also accompanied by delicate sauces; creamy cheeses, flans and soufflés. It is also enjoyable on its own or with exotic pairings.
Failla Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2018Winery Notes: In our ongoing quest for purity of expression we continue to shift toward more neutral élevage for this enjoy-it-young chardonnay: splitting half of the fruit between concrete egg and stainless steel vessels. The remainder fermented and aged in french oak, only 15% new and barely perceptible in the finished wine’s aromas of wet-stone, lime and oyster-shell. Malolactic fermentation provides a round, glycerin finish that balance the wine’s vibrant mouth-watering acidity.
McGah Family Cellars Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon 2017Winemaker Notes: Unbelievable complexity and layers intermingle with aromas of berry compote, cassis, with a black cherry core that jumps from the glass. The mid palate is a silky flow of abundant blue and black fruits followed with an opulent, full bodied mouthfeel.
Walter Hansel Cuvée Alyce Chardonnay 2017Tasting Note: This vineyard is the highest in elevation of all Walter Hansel’s estate vineyards, and the soil is a combination of gravel, and sand. This wine tends to be most opulent Chardonnay Walter Hansel produces, but in this year, it has the whole packet. Great floral aromatics, a wonderful core of stone fruits, and an incredible liquid mineral, and fruit finish. This wine sees 50% new French oak, and 50% 1-2-year-old French oak barrels.
Roth Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017Winemaker Notes : Our 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is bold, full-bodied and rich. Dark in color, it displays mighty aromas of black cherry, blackberry and baking spices with intense fruit on the finish. Rich and layered flavors of mocha, blackberry and vanilla complement the firm tannins, gaining power as the wine moves across the palate. Structured, and powerful, this Cabernet lingers on the finish.
Walter Hansel Estate Pinot Noir 2017Tasting Notes: Pale ruby-purple colored, the 2017 Pinot Noir Estate has amazingly pure notions of crushed cranberries, Bing cherries and redcurrants with touches of garrigue, tilled soil and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, it delivers bags of crunchy red berry flavors and a lovely satiny texture with a very long, lively finish.
Ehlers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017Tasting Note: Deep garnet-purple layers show in this exquisite blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Aromatically, this wine is very complex and intense, with scents of boysenberry, cassis, blueberries, spice box, vanilla, and cocoa powder. This wine is medium bodied with balanced acidity that enhances the red fruit character. It has a lingering finish of red fruit jam, cedar, and a mineral finish. The tannins are firm but the finish is smooth. This is a beautiful wine to enjoy now, but it will age extremely well for many years.
