Clos Saint Jean Chateauneuf du Pape 2012
Inky ruby. Heady, mineral-accented aromas of blueberry, cherry compote, lavender and cola, with a smoky nuance building in the glass. Palate-staining dark berry flavors pick up notes of white pepper and licorice as the wine opens in the glass. This powerful yet nimble Châteauneuf finishes with very good clarity and silky tannins that add gentle grip.

Wine AdvocateThe 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape is a beautifully Provencal effort that gives up loads of black licorice, savory spice, leather and sweet black cherry aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and already approachable, it nevertheless has the tannic structure and concentration to evolve for 10-15 years.
