Sinor-LaVallee San Luis Obispo County Syrah 2014

SKU 1923

Syrah was the first wine we made from Bassi Vineyard, proving to be the touchstone of a journey that ultimately led us to acquiring the property. We were blown away by the fruit's depth and symmetry, and its signatures of white pepper, lavendar and tapenade. These qualities have held true ever since. Our two Syrah blocks are planted along the eastern shoulder of the ranch, and we employ multiple picks to foster richness and dimension in the wine. This is a classic marine-climate Syrah, right on the pivot point of power and elegance.

Wine AdvocateAnother solid wine, the 2014 Syrah comes all from the Bassi Vineyard in the San Luis Obispo AVA. It was fermented in a small bins, old milk tanks and one old redwood hot tub (yup, you read that right) and aged in 10% new French oak. This Syrah offers lots juicy berry fruits, pepper and a touch of olive in its medium-bodied, nicely balanced and character-filled style. I can't say if the hot tube helped or not, but this is good.
