Hayfork Field Select Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Family vineyard at the base of the Mayacamas in St Helena. "Field Select" is Hayfork's 3 barrel (60 case) production "Reserve" Cab. Their darkest, densest fruit comes from this block selection. Aged in all new French oak, 2% Petit Verdot. Smell and taste spicy cherry liqueur, Amaro (without the bitter), black olives, cedar closet, tobacco, curry spice, pomegranate syrup. Very complex, intense and quite spicy for an awesome, high end Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.

Jeb DunnuckEven better, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Field Select is a selection of clone 6 Cabernet Sauvignon blended with 12% Petit Verdot, all from the Lewelling Ranch Vineyard and aged 20 months in new French oak. It’s a blockbuster that still shows the elegance and finesse that are common from this site. Notes of creme de cassis, graphite, blueberries, and a vibrant floral character all develop with time in the glass, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, perfect balance, silky tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s another thrilling wine from Haley Wight that can be drunk today or cellared for two decades or more.
