Hartford Court Four Hearts Vineyard Chardonnay 2018
|Region||California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley|
Four Hearts Vineyards Chardonnay is sourced from estate and neighboring vineyards located in the key regions that form the heart of the Russian River Valley AVA. The vineyards are planted with very distinctive Chardonnay clonal selection that includes old ‘Wente’ field selections, Dijon Clone 95 and 96, UC Davis Clone 15 and smaller amounts of UC Davis clones 4 and 5. Although the Hartford Court Four Hearts Chardonnay has a weighty texture with spicy and layered flavors, it finishes with a brightness that reflects the cool climate origins of the stellar vineyards that comprise this blend. Complex aromas and flavors of white peach, citrus blossom, Asian pear and candied lemon give way to a rich and weighty mid-palate, followed by a long, exotic spice infused finish in this old-vine RRV Chardonnay.
Already bottled, the 2018 Chardonnay Four Hearts Vineyard features bold baked pears, fresh Golden Delicious apples and lemonade scents with touches of chalk dust and allspice. Medium-bodied, the palate has a racy line lifting the apple and pear flavors, finishing on a chalky note. 2,100 cases were made.
The 2018 Chardonnay Four Hearts Vineyards is a wine of richness and phenolic intensity. Old vines convey a real sense of weight, oiliness and gravitas. Readers will find an especially dense, savory Chardonnay with tons of floral and herbal character, but less in the way of overt fruit.
Shows verve, with savory herbal shadings to the crunchy green apple and lemon-lime flavors. Fresh acidity powers the juicy finish. Drink now through 2023. 2,100 cases made.
