This wine is a perfect complement to braised beef short ribs, chicken cacciatore, caramelized onions, blue cheese, and dark chocolate mousse. Blend: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Shiraz.

This swing between daytime and nighttime temperatures - up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit! - is due to cool marine air flowing east through the Templeton Gap and south along the Salinas River from the Monterey Bay. The result is Cabernet Sauvignon with rich fruit, full bodies, and silky tannins, but with a firm acid backbone. The wine shows notes of black cherry, chocolate, and vanilla. Alban Vineyards Patrina Syrah 2016Winery Note: While the grapes for Patrina are raised with the same detail and attentiveness as the rest of our vineyards, and then fermented open top with indigenous yeast, gentle pump overs and a few punch downs once soft, it is bottled unfined and unfiltered after ‘just’ 22 months in barrel to preserve its youthful exuberance. All the density and concentration folks have come to expect from our reds with black and blue fruits, mineral notes, and flowers.
Lucienne Lone Oak Pinot Noir 2017Winery Notes: Our 146-acre certified sustainable Lone Oak Vineyard sits at the northern end of the Santa Lucia Highlands where it is cooled by ocean breezes from the Monterey Bay. Morning fog lingers here while the wind picks up in the afternoon, leading to a long, cool growing season that allows grapes to slowly develop flavor and concentration. With gentle, east-facing slopes and elevations between 180 and 500 feet, the vineyard’s ancient alluvial soils assure excellent drainage. Just 20 acres of Lone Oak are devoted to Pinot Noir, creating an intensely aromatic wine with notes of citrus, cherry pie, toast, spice and a hint of earthiness. The complexity continues on the palate, with sleek cherry flavors, youthful balance, a round, soft texture and a long, structured finish.
Bevan Ontogeny 2017Winemaker Notes: In 2017, we used more Tench and Sugarloaf than ever before to make sure that Ontogeny had the richness and depth that it has become known for. Sugarloaf Mountain Cabernet Franc was perfect for this, lending a beautiful blueberry and tobacco base. From there, we used Tench Cabernet Sauvignon for power, a kiss of Wildfoote for exuberance and a barrel of Sentinel Ridge for a little mountain tannin.

Failla Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2018Winery Notes: In our ongoing quest for purity of expression we continue to shift toward more neutral élevage for this enjoy-it-young chardonnay: splitting half of the fruit between concrete egg and stainless steel vessels. The remainder fermented and aged in french oak, only 15% new and barely perceptible in the finished wine’s aromas of wet-stone, lime and oyster-shell. Malolactic fermentation provides a round, glycerin finish that balance the wine’s vibrant mouth-watering acidity.
