J. Lassalle Brut Champagne Cachet OrWinery Notes: Champagne J. Lassalle works with all three varietals authorized in the region (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier) on eleven hectares of vineyards, all of them premier cru. These tough, hardworking women continue to follow the vinification methods established by Jules in the forties: they use the same wooden basket press he installed in the winery over fifty years ago, pressing and vinifying the individual plots separately. It is one of the rare Champagnes that has been allowed to finish its malolactic fermentation, just like the great whites from the Côte d'Or. Every bottle is riddled by hand, and all cuvées are aged extensively once in bottle-even the non-vintage cuvées, which are a minimum of five years old. This results in an astonishing complexity and depth from the beginning of their range up to the luxury cuvées.

Turley Juvenile Zinfandel 2017Winery Notes: Though the vast majority of our wines are single vineyard designates, Juvenile is actually composed of a variety of young vines that have been replanted in several of our old vine sites. We tag the vine when we replant it so as not to mix the brand new vine with its much older neighbors, then pick these young vines separately and make a distinct wine. The vines that make up Juvenile range in age from about 6-25 years, and we pull from 15 of our vineyards across California, including Hayne, Ueberroth, Pesenti, Salvador, and Vineyard 101.

Raeburn Russian River Chardonnay 2017Winemaker Notes : 2017 was a bit of wild ride. Heavy winter rains brought relief from a multi-year drought and caused flooding in many low-lying areas. An early bud break and late summer heat hastened the grapes’ ripening. Labor Day weekend was quite warm which helped achieve ideal brix levels. All our grapes were harvested and inside the winery well before the start of the tragic North Bay wildfires. Chardonnay shows an array of complex fruit tones ranging from pear and Gravenstein apple to nectarine. The fruit is beautifully complemented with toasted oak, vanilla and hints of Crème Brûlée with a balanced and elegant finish.

The Prisoner Wine Company Saldo Zinfandel 2017Winemaker Notes: While sampling grapes from fine-quality vineyards to make The Prisoner, we came across many that, although not right for that distinctive Napa Valley blend, were just too good to let go. We created Saldo to feature this outstanding fruit from Dry Creek, Lodi, and Amador, where Zinfandel has thrived for decades. Dark ruby color with bold aromas of black licorice, black pepper, cherry, and baking spice. The entry is rich, full, and scintillating. Vine Cliff Oakville Private Stock Cabernet Sauvignon 2014Winery Notes: The 2014 growing season began with low winter rainfall. The season continued dry and temperatures were warmer than normal resulting in early bud break and bloom. Drier soils in the spring helped slow grape canopy growth which resulted in lower cluster weight and smaller berry size which bodes well for wine quality. Every year we select our most exceptional lots from these low yield, high quality blocks to make the very limited Private Stock blend. Our 2014 Private Stock Cabernet final blend is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The aroma is a complex mix of cassis, blackberry, berry, plum, and earth. Aging in the finest French Bordeaux barrels produces a bouquet of cedar, anise, vanilla, and a hint of nutmeg and clove. Rich and luscious on the palate with balanced acidity and berry and cherry flavors that linger with supple tannin on the long smooth finish.
Carlisle Sonoma County Zinfandel 2017Winery Note: Medium to medium-dark ruby-garnet. Intense aromas of red cherries, clove, and a pleasing earthy note. Medium-bodied, flavors of cherry and baking spices build to a gently tannic finish. Given its price point, one might conclude that this wine is meant for early consumption. Not necessarily so! While it can certainly be enjoyed now, this wine has plenty of structure to age and develop gracefully. Hence, we’d recommend giving it another year or two in bottle and then enjoying through 2028.

A classic Central Coast Chardonnay, this wine offers aromas of nectarine with grilled pineapple and a hint of smoke. It is medium-bodied and presents layers of sliced peaches and golden delicious apples, finishing crisp and clean with well-balanced acid. On the palate are notes of tangerine, white peach, lychee, citrus, banana, lemon zest, and grapefruit. The wine has a vibrant acidity, minerality, and a touch of creaminess on the finish. By fermenting the wine in stainless steel, French oak, and concrete, we are building layers of complexity in the wine. The barrel fermentations add texture, density, and viscosity to the midpalate of the wine. The concrete adds a touch of flint and minerality to the finish as well as adding some mid-palate richness. The stainless steel fermentations preserve the natural Sauvignon Blanc aromatics and the vibrant acidity and crispness.
