2015 Domaine de Bila Haut • Haut Cotes de Roussillon Villages les Vignes de Bila Haut

The jaw-dropper in the lineup was the quality of the 2015 Haut Cotes de Roussillon Villages les Vignes de Bila Haut. While the entry level wine from this estate, the quality here is incredible, especially at the price point. Made from 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Carignan from a mix of the estate’s terroirs, aged in concrete tanks and stainless steel, it offers a rich, concentrated and serious feel to go with fabulously pure notes of blackberries, black raspberries, crushed rock and melted licorice. Thick, unctuous and luxuriously textured, this will certainly be the greatest vintage of this cuvee to date. $15 Our Price $12.25 (Arrives 8/23/17)

2014 Sinor-La Vallee Syrah- SLO County

This feral and gamy wine shows roast lamb, rosemary, dried fennel, rose petal and forest floor aromas on its dynamic nose. The palate leads with explosive acidity, before waves of Concord grape and blackberry flavor take hold. It's light on its feet but has some textural firmness, finishing on rosemary, lavender and game notes. $28 Our Price $23.99

2014 Jeff Cohn Cellars • Smoke & Mirrors

One of the larger production releases at just under 1,400 cases, the 2014 Smoke And Mirrors is an eclectic blend of 28% Zinfandel, 20% Petite Sirah, 33% Syrah, 11% Grenache, 6% Mourvedre and 2% Alicante raised in a mix of concrete tanks, foudre and various sized barrels. 2016 Ghost Block MorgaenLee Yountville Sauvignon Blanc

Winemaker Notes: This bright, tempting, and silky sur lie aged Sauvignon Blanc boasts aromatics of ripe stone fruits, mainly white peach and yellow melon. The wine has lively acidity of yellow fruits and hints of peach. This single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc exhibits classic Napa Valley flavors, with a crisp and complex long –lasting, refreshing finish. Varietal Content: 100% Sauvignon Blanc $22 (Arrives 8/25/17)

2012 Cambiata Tannat

Winemaker Notes: We fermented the black juice in small open‐top fermenters and pumped over twice a day during fermentation. The wine was then pressed straight to 60 gallon barrels (100% French, 40% new). Our 2012 Tannat is incredibly deep and concentrated with notes of earth, blackberries, saddle leather and licorice. On the palate it is thick and chewy with bold, well‐integrated tannins. Big wine. Good wine. In case you are not familiar with it, Tannat is a native of Southwest France. Included in its resume are the big, dark, dense reds from the Madiran region north of the Pyrenees Mountains that separate France from Spain.$35 Our Price $25.99 (Arrives 8/22/17)

2014 Pahlmeyer Napa Chardonnay

The 2014 Chardonnay is light gold-colored with a greenish hue and beautiful, fresh tropical fruit flavors of pineapple, pear, honeysuckle and a touch of citrus. It is not as dense and concentrated as the 2013, but I love its vibrancy and beautiful subtleties and nuances. It is another top-notch effort from Pahlmeyer to drink over the next 7-8 years. $82 Our Price $69.99

Krug NV Grande Cuvée 164ème Édition

Krug's NV Grand Cuvée 164 Edition is a total knockout. Based on the 2008 vintage, the 164th Edition shows all the crystalline tension and energy that is such a signature of the year. At times, the 164 reminds me of the 2008 vins clairs I tasted after harvest. The flavors are brisk, delineated and pulsing with energy, while the more oxidative notes that are such a signature of Krug Champagnes are not especially evident. A wine of total pedigree and class, the 164 reminds me of some of the great Grand Cuvées of the 1960s and 1970s I have been lucky to taste over the years. No Champagne lover will want to be without this spectacular, captivating wine. All that said, readers should be patient, as the 164 is painfully young, austere and in need of serious cellaring. $190 Our Price $154.95 (Delicious!)
