2016 Paradigm Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Notes: Dark Cabernet color with beautiful aromas of black cherry, cassis, plus 5-spice, vanilla. Big, ripe and mouthcoating across the palate. The flavors are similar to the aromas with ripe fruit, berry/cherry pie, moderate tannins, and nice length. 2016 Alban Patrina Estate Syrah

The 2016 Patrina is another beautiful, elegant wine that has classic Alban depth and richness as well as notes of crème de cassis, smoked meats, iodine, and hints of bacon fat. Unfortunately, quantities are down 50% due to berry shrivel, yet the wine is a stunning, full-bodied, silky Syrah that will drink beautifully for a decade. Patrina is bacon, smoked meats, and deep fruit, all framed with what one can reasonably call the ‘Alban Style’. It’s dense, concentrated, dark, and long with restraint. 60% new French oak, 26 months program 100% Estate Syrah. $48

2017 Turley Wine Cellars
Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard

Fruit for this comes from vines planted in 1953. A barrel sample to be bottled in March, the 2017 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard has a very deep purple-black, opaque color and very perfumed nose of charcuterie, dried blue flowers and granite with a core of lush, ripe black and blue fruits. Full-bodied and huge in the mouth, it's very perfumed and has lovely dark fruit layers, framed by very firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness to lift the long, dense finish. 625 cases are expected to be made. $80

2018 Hartford Court Russian River Pinot

Winemaker Notes: Aromas of black cherry, allspice, black currant and loam are followed by flavors of wild raspberries, dark berries and a crushed rock minerality. The dense entry is followed by a sweet and juicy mouth feel, supported by acidity, silky tannins and a subtle earthy finish. $35 Our Price $29.99

The 2016 Rothwell Hyde is a gorgeous wine to drink now, for readers who can find it. Soft and elegant with silky tannins and fabulous balance, the 2016 has so much to offer already. Black cherry, mocha, espresso, licorice, lavender and spice contribute aromatic nuance, but more than anything else, the 2016 is racy and open-knit, with tons of immediacy. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this gem. Drinking window: 2020 – 2031. $225 (Arrives 3/27/20)

2008 Haut-Bailly Pessac Leognan

A candidate for the -wine of the vintage,- the 2008 Haut-Bailly possesses incredible complexity. Tell-tale notes of lead pencil shavings, charcoal, damp earth, black cherries and black currants intermixed with a hint of subtle barbecue smoke are present in this classic, quintessential Graves. Medium-bodied with an emerging, precocious complexity, it is a super-pure, beautifully textured, long wine that can be drunk now or cellared for 20-25 years. Bravo! $149.95
