Turley Hayne Vineyard Petite Syrah 2017
Otty Hayne planted the Hayne Petite Syrah in 1953 while he was home from college visiting his grandfather. All head-trained, dry-farmed and organic, this Petite Syrah is one of the most unique wines in California. Powerful and inky in its youth, the wine becomes more feminine and refined with age and will outlive us all.

Wine AdvocateFruit for this comes from vines planted in 1953. A barrel sample to be bottled in March, the 2017 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard has a very deep purple-black, opaque color and very perfumed nose of charcuterie, dried blue flowers and granite with a core of lush, ripe black and blue fruits. Full-bodied and huge in the mouth, it's very perfumed and has lovely dark fruit layers, framed by very firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness to lift the long, dense finish. 625 cases are expected to be made.
VinousThe 2017 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is just gorgeous. Inky, powerful and plush, the Hayne is so expressive today. All of the vineyard signatures come through - especially the purity of the fruit - but with less of the tannic heft the wine can show in its youth.
