Frederic Esmonin Nuits St Georges Les Hauts Pruliers 2020
|Region||France, Burgundy, Morey Saint Denis|
The wines of Nuits-Saint-Géorges have been famous since the Middle Ages and were served at the French court. Louis the 14th, the Sun King himself, drank it often, and thought the wines from Nuits had a healing effect. The vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges are divided into 2 parts - one on each side of the village. There are no Grand Crus here, but some highly sought-after 1st Cru fields and Lieux-dits. One of these Lieux-dits is "Les Hauts Pruliers", situated on a very steep slope just above the 1st Cru field Les Pruliers. Hauts Pruliers has a slightly spicy aroma with dark ripe berries. The delicious slightly creamy taste reveals a great complexity with many layers of red and black forest berries with light animal touches, good balanced acidity and mineral touches.
Gorgeous aromas of black cherry, black currant and violet signal this silky, forthcoming red. It's linear and pure, with fine balance and a long finish. Well-integrated tannins linger. Best from 2023 through 2035. 50 cases imported.
