Winery Notes:
This iconic vineyard site is the home of the original plantings in the Santa Rita Hills, planted by Richard Sanford in 1971. The Sanford & Benedict Vineyard houses soils of Botella clay loam littered with chert and shale. These alluvial soils, commonly found on valley floors, lead to great drainage throughout the vineyard. We are fortunate to be one of a small amount or producers who have access to these old vines.

Pale ruby-purple, pure raspberry and pomegranate define the 2020 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict, with touches of charcuterie, cracked pepper, mushroom and forest floor emerging as it spends time in the glass. The palate is fragrant and harmonious, offering detailed flavors, chalky tannins, mouthwatering acidity and a very long finish. Lovely!

The 2020 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is a very pretty, aromatic wine from the old-vine section of this site, first planted in 1971. Lifted and ethereal, the 2020 is wonderfully nuanced from start to finish. As always, this is an especially aromatic Pinot and yet the stems (67%) aren't especially evident. Gorgeous.
