Cornell Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
|Region||California, Sonoma County|
A wine of tremendous clarity and energy, the 2018 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon leads with enticing blackberry, black currant, cardamom, and violets on the nose. Cassis-hued and anchored by sleek minerality and cohesive structure, its mountain provenance is evidenced by a full spectrum profile of fresh summer cherry, dried mint, river rock, and espresso on the palate. Brimming with vitality and gravitas, this supremely balanced wine promises decades of enjoyment.
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is elegant and nuanced from the very first taste. Over the last year, the 2018 has developed from a powerhouse into a much more refined wine. There is plenty of mountain tannin and structure, but those elements are completely enrobed by the fruit. Hints of iron, cedar, dried herbs, mint and sweet red cherry fruit emerge with a bit of time in the glass. The 2018 is a very rare, quintessentially elegant mountain Cabernet. Best of all, the 2018 won't take years to come together. I would drink it ahead of the 2016 or 2017, but if opened young it needs several hours of aeration.
A perfumed nose of black fruit, cassis, dark plums, dried herbs, mushrooms, wet earth, nutmeg and spice box. Fullbodied with chewy tannins. Structured and firm, yet fresh. It’s driven and focused with beautifully pure fruit. Try from 2025.
